“Strength in Unity” is the theme at this year’s victims’ rights expo to be conducted April 28 at PJC’s Pensacola Campus.  The event, sponsored by PJC’s Criminal Justice program, in partnership with Trauma Intervention Programs, the University of West Florida, and the Northwest Florida Victim Services Coalition, will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the student center, building 5.

The event is free and open to the public and will bring together community experts in victims’ services and victims’ rights.  In addition to the agency expo, a seminar addressing important issues in victims’ rights, including crimes against children, crimes against women, and identity theft, will be held all day with speakers from law enforcement, the court system, as well as victims themselves.

More than 25 agencies, including local law enforcement agencies as well as MADD, Favor House, Gulf Coast Kid’s House and the Lakeview Rape Crisis Center will be on hand to answer questions. A complete list of agencies can be found at www.eCorsair.com.

Scheduled speakers include: the Honorable Bill Eddins, state attorney; Tommy Carter, crisis team manager for the Trauma Intervention Program; Steve Hurm, regional counsel for the Florida Department of law Enforcement; Theresa Adlam, victim advocate from the Office of the Attorney General; and Pat Tuthill, founder of the Peyton Tuthill Foundation.
