The PJC men’s basketball team lost their second straight game in the Panhandle Shootout to ABAC at Marianna, 75-72. Like Friday’s game, the Pirates had a chance to win the game but came up on the short end.

Down by one with 5.1 seconds to play, PJC forward Petras Balocka had a chance to give the Pirates the lead but missed two foul shots on the free throw line. The Pirates had to foul on the next ABAC possession. ABAC made two free throws and PJC missed a desperation 3-pointer.

The coaching staff said that like Friday’s game, the Pirates were unable to execute at the end.

Balocka lead the team with 18 points. Forward Miles Taylor had 17 points and averaged 17.5 points for the tournament. Eugene Blue had 12 points.

The Pirates now have a record of 6-4 and will travel to play Faulkner State on Tuesday. Tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
