Feb. 4 was the sixth conference win for the Lady Pirates 71-60 leaving them 6-1 in Conference and 19-2 overall against Chipola College. Starting for the Lady Pirates was #3 Brandy Broome, #5 Ronika Ransford, #22 Kyana Jacobs, #25 TeAndrea Smith and #33 Darnisha Hamilton. Within the first minute of the game, Ransford was hit in the face taking her out of the game for the remainder of the first half. Ransford came back in the game in the second half with 12:45 left on the clock and still managed to rack up 8 points. Lady Pirates took and held on to the lead throughout the entire game against the “Lady Indians.” By half-time, Lady Pirates had taken a 15 point lead leaving it at 37-22, with Khadijah Ellison scoring 10 of those 37 points. In the second half, Lady Pirates continued to played strong, making sure the Lady Indians had no chance of catching up. Lady Pirates maintained over a 10 point lead. Te Smith hurt her back with 6:29 left on the clock that took her out of the game for good  but not before she could contribute 16 points for the team.  Brittany Watkins fouled out at 4:56 in the second half scoring 8 points for the Lady Pirates before leaving the court.With 4:31 on the clock K. Ellison was fouled by Lady Indian #21 Kristine Brance that caused Ellison to hurt her knee, she was taken out and #11 Ricki Alex was brought in to shoot Ellison’s free throws, making 1 out of 2. Ellison managed to pull in 12 points in the game before her injury. Also scoring 8 points each were Broome and Richardson, and Mitchell with 7 points. The next game for the Lady Pirates will be at Home on Wed. Feb. 8 at 5:30p.m. against Tallahassee Community College. The Lady Pirates stand at #1 in the State and #4 in the National Ranking Polls.
