The night started off honoring the 4 Sophomores that have been a HUGE contribute to the Lady Pirates success this season.

Karson Hinds; setter, graduated from Niceville High School and plans to continue playing at a 4 year institution. She was escorted by Melissa Shaddix and Ricky Hinds.

Tiffany Guerra; Defensive Specialist, graduated from Sneads High School and plans to attend University of Florida. She was escorted by Mike and Kelly Guerra.

Adrianne Woodard; Middle Blocker, graduated from Chiles High School and would like to continue playing at a 4 year institution. She was escorted by Jennifer Woodard.

Emily Guidry; Middle Blocker, graduated from Ft. Walton Beach High School and plans to attend University of Florida. She was escorted by Lisa Moulton.

 

The Sophomores advice to the Freshman: ” Play hard and stay on top of things,” Karson said. “Have fun,” Emily said. “Be a team and keep the legacy going,” Adrianne said. “These are the best years,” Tiffany said.

 

Tiffany joined her team for “Sophomore Night” after having 2 shoulder surgeries and out most of the season  to serve it up for the Lady Pirates.

 

“It was great to see Tiffany have an opportunity to serve and hopefully she’ll remember that for awhile,” Head Coach Chris Laird said. “She’s been a lot of value to our program and a great team mate even though she hasn’t had a chance to be on the court that much.”

 

Again the Lady Pirates defeated Gulf Coast College with confidence and the drive to win.

 

“Looking at the stats, statistically it was pretty good,” Assistant Coach Chad Fuller said.” We did what we had to to win.”

 

With the last home game behind them, the Lady Pirates have a lot to look forward to.

 

“I was pleased we ended on a high note,” Laird said. “It’s always nice to be successful.”

 

The Lady Pirates will be heading to Tampa Oct. 28-29

for the Hillsborough Tournament and will be off to the State Tournament Nov. 4-6.

 

“We’ve played most of the teams we’re going to play at state and we were successful,” Fuller said. “We’re excited and if we play to our ability, anything is possible.”

 

At the end of another win, The Lady Commodores and their coach presented the Lady Pirates with a card of Congrats and clapped for them on their victory.

 

“It was really nice of them,” Laird said. ” They are a good team and showed that even more by giving us this card.”

 

Megan Gorey had 14 kills,9 digs, 2 aces, and 2 blocks

Sarah Guidry had 9 kills and 10 digs

Jordan Cangelosi had 4 kills and 2 assists

Emily Guidry had 3 kills, 5 digs, 2 assists, 1 ace and 3 blocks

Adrianne Woodard had 3 kills, 4 digs, 2 aces, and 1 block

Karson Hinds had 2 kills, 26 assists, 6 digs, 3 aces, and 2 blocks

Shantel Federick had 13 digs and 1 assist

Paige Schweigert had 5 digs
