Under the fall sun with PJC’s colors covering picnic tables, the Student Government Association at the Warrington campus hosted the Fall Fling.
Students were welcomed to join and enjoy a free meal served by Pirates Cove.
“We’ve provided for every major event since we started,” explained Morgan Rosas, Warrington Campus’ Pirates Cove manager, who said their branch of Pirates Cove started over five years ago.
Students were treated to hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, baked beans and drinks. SGA members sweated under the sun to serve crowds, and welcomed the autumn breeze — until plates and napkins began taking flight.
The Blood Mobile also was scheduled to be at the Fall Fling. Jacinta Straus, SGA advisor, explained that they try to have events like the Fall Fling to promote the blood drive.
“Over the years at Warrington we just have a hard time getting people to donate blood,” she said. She explained that one year they had 22 donors, and students are usually in class or elsewhere when the Blood Mobile is on campus.
The SGA ran out of hamburgers and had 17 blood donors within the first 30 minutes of the event. The SGA is striving to beat their usual average, and help save lives one pint at a time.
