Leah Drury, the Pensacola State College women’s head basketball coach, and the lady pirates endured another loss of the season against conference rivals Gulf Coast State College on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Lou Ross Center.

In Drury’s first season as coach, the pirates have played with only nine girls for most of the season and still haven’t won a conference game.

The night began with the first two points by the pirates, but GCSC responded with two points of their own.

The game continued like that throughout the first half, but the pirates kept the score close at the end of the half with the commodores up by one, 36-35.

The last time PSC and GCSC played at home PSC lost by 13 points.

The commodores took the lead at the start of the second half; and at 13 minutes into the half PSC’s Alexis Horton lost the ball midcourt which gave the commodores two more points.

Later, a foul by Teadra Jones, a PSC guard, allowed GCSC two free throws.

The lady pirates lost another conference game 81-71.

With their record standing at 11-14, they will play two more games with no hope of a conference title.

PSC will play Tallahassee Community College at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, for their last home game and sophomore night.
