Pensacola State College is getting a new look as workers have extracted the pear trees along College Boulevard. These trees will be replaced with white flowering crape myrtle trees.

The pear trees that once divided College Boulevard’s streets have reached their life expectancy, according to an e-mail from college president Ed. Meadows. The trees were starting to up heave the curb and pavement around its roots, causing damage to the school’s landscape.

The new white flowering crape myrtle trees will give the Pensacola Campus a new look, adding color all year round. The crape myrtle will provide exquisite foliage in the spring, white flowers in the summer, and red bark in the fall and winter.
