The Lady Pirates ended their winning streak and a chance at a national title with a loss 90-75 in the semi-finals against North Idaho College. They will play Northern Oklahoma-Enid Saturday at 5 p.m. for third place in the NJCAA Women’s National Basketball Championship in Salina, Kansas.
In the fast-paced game, the Lady Pirates had more points off turnovers (27 to 18) but the Cardinals shot with 50 percent efficiency. Five Lady Pirates scored double digits. Ashley Olvera was high scorer for the team with 15, including 3 three-pointers. Meghan Perkins had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Najat Ouardad scored 12 points, Jessica Merritt scored 11 and Brandy Broome had 10. Broome also had 8 steals.
