The Lady Pirates took third place in the NJCAA Women’s National Basketball Championship, beating Northern Oklahoma 86-63 Saturday night in Salina, Kansas. The Lady Pirates showed more confidence on the court after their loss in the semi-final matchup Friday, taking the lead out the gate and leading by as much as 26 points in the second half.
The team capitalized on turnovers with 42 points coming off turnovers.
Four players scored double digits: Brandy Broome was high scorer with 15 points; Jessica Merritt and Najat Ouardad both had 14; and Meghan Perkins had 13.
Perkins was named to the all-tournament team.
