The Pensacola State College Men’s basketball team has progressed during their preseason with hours of practice and preseason matches last weekend.

“We are a work in progress,” released head Basketball Coach Pete Pena, “I think we have gotten better every time we scrimmage … we are growing as a team.”

They have been continuously working hard these last few weeks to prepare for their home-game opener, Nov. 2, against Jefferson Davis Community College in the Pensacola State Invitational.

With eight freshmen and five sophomores, Pena is looking to steal the season with his competitive squad of thirteen.

In an interview last week coach previewed their tough schedule ahead, “First of all, we are playing the best conference in the country, so those twelve games are absolute wars with great coaches and great players.

“Now, our non-conference games, some people use that to win some games and gain confidence.”

PSC won their last national championship 20 years ago in 1993, and since then they have accumulated 14 Panhandle Championships and five state championships.

With a young team riding on the back of Pena, they hope to endure the discipline and hard work to acclaim another championship this year.
