The Pirates men’s basketball team continued a five-game skid with a 90-63 loss to Chipola Junior College Saturday. 

The team has a 2-5 conference record and are 17-8 overall. 

The Pirates basketball team fell to Gulf Coast Community College 86-74 on Jan. 17th.  Steve Proctor led the team with 15 points, Damar Ruffin added 11 of his own, and Alfonso Burnett scored 10.   

On Jan. 24th, the Pirates faltered again at Okaloosa Walton Community College, 74-68.  Burnett led the Pirates with 15 points, Richard Damus dropped in 14, and Ruffin just missed the double-double by adding 9 points and 9 boards. 

The Pirates played Tallahassee Community College Jan. 28 and the skid continued as the men lost 82-71.  The Pirates scorers were led by Burnett and Brandon Gordon who dropped in 16 points apiece. 

Women’s basketball

The Lady Pirates lost a heart-breaker at the buzzer Saturday night, 69-67 against Chipola Community College.  The team’s three losses this season have been to conference teams.

That gives the women’s team a record of 19-3 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

The Lady Pirates lost their first game of the season to Gulf Coast Community College 65-62.  Sonya Coleman led the Lady Pirates by dropping in 16 points, Tameka Kelly added 10 points and 7 boards, and Lawanna Leon scored 8 and added 8 rebounds.

   The Lady Pirates won on the road 58-50 against OWCC on Jan. 24th. 

   Dominique Washington led the attack scoring 13, Leon kept pace with 12, and Kelly scored 8 points and pulled in 12 boards.

The women lost a second game 79-67 to Tallahassee Community College at home on Jan. 28th. 

   It wasn’t all bad news for the Lady Pirates as LaTanya Jones busted out with 26 points.  Washington added in 14 points.
