Dustin Tuller, former student on the Milton campus, is recovering in Germany from multiple wounds to his lower legs.  As a result of the injury he received during an attack near Baghdad, Iraq on Dec. 23, Tuller has lost both legs.

Tuller, 28, is married and the father of four children.  His wife has flown to Germany to be with Tuller. Milton chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Beta Beta Gamma, is currently raising money for the Tuller family.

“We’re doing a fund-raiser to help the family out,” said Dawn Young, Beta Beta Gamma president.  “Dustin would take the shirt off his back for you.  We know that if it was one of us he would be leading the charge to help us.”

Beta Beta Gamma has put flyers all over the campus to advertise the fund-raiser.

According to the latest information on an online diary set up by his family, Tuller has been taken off constant IVs.  He is scheduled to have a wound graft on Feb. 20.

The diary added that he is, “getting stronger everyday.”

Tuller has been awarded the National Defense Service Medal, The Florida Cross (the highest medal the state can give), and the Meritorious Service Medal. A Trust Fund has been set up through Bank of America entitled the “Tuller Family Benefit Fund.” Contributions can be made at any Bank of America.
