The Corsair is pleased to announce the winners of the 2004-2005 Athletes of the Year awards.
Lady Pirate Basketball and recently signed West Virginia Mountaineer Tameka Kelly is the Corsair’s Female Athlete of the Year. Kelly, a 6’1″ forward from Pensacola and Pine Forest High School, led the team in scoring with 18 points per game, and was second on the team in rebounds with 6 rebounds per game. She was also a two year starter for the Lady Pirates, and was captain of the 2004-2005 squad.
Kelly was selected as the Panhandle Conference Player of the Week multiple times, was a Panhandle Conference All-Conference team selection, an FCCAA All-State selection, and was chosen as an All-American Honorable Mention, the 4th Lady Pirate to be selected as an All-American. She was also the Corsair’s 2004-2005 PJC Women’s Basketball Player of the Year.
Pirate Baseball leader Ian Craze was chosen as the Corsair’s Male Athlete of the Year. Craze, a 5’10” sophomore centerfielder from Mansfield, Ohio, played a key role in the scheme of this year’s state tournament berth. Craze was a second-team All Panhandle Conference pick, and was the Panhandle Conference defensive player of the year. Craze committed just three errors, posted 100 putouts and had a .338 batting average, five home runs and 43 RBI. Ian was also the Corsair’s 2004-2005 PJC Baseball Player of the Year.

Q Steve Proctor
Men’s Basketball
Proctor, a 6’3″ shooting guard from Fairfax, Virginia, averaged 15.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game for PJC. He was also chosen to the first-team All-Panhandle Conference this season.
Q Anastasia Saunders
Volleyball
Saunders, a 5’9″ sophomore from Avon Park, Fla., led the Pirates to a 15-10 record and a Panhandle Conference Championship. Saunders was chosen to the All Panhandle Conference first-team, and was the Panhandle Conference Player of the Year. She also was chosen to the FCCAA All-State and NJCAA All-Region teams.
Q Judith Husband
Softball
Husband, a sophomore pitcher from Wewahitchka, Fla., was an instrumental part of this year’s team, posting a record of 21-5 this season and a 1.32 ERA for the Lady Pirates.
She was also chosen to the All Panhandle Conference first-team.
