For the graduating students of the Fall 2005 term, graduation will again take place at the Pensacola Civic Center. It will be held at 7 p.m. on Dec. 16.
“I am ready to go out into the world to accomplish more things, with the education and skills I have received from PJC,” said Andrea Daniels, a student at Pensacola Junior College who will be graduating at the end of the Fall 2005 term.
Graduation was moved to the Pensacola Civic Center last semester due to the lack of space and the extensive renovations that are taking place in the Lou Ross Gymnasium, where all graduations were held in the past.
“We plan on about 1,319 students graduating at the end of this term,” said Peter Wilkin, director of student life.
Graduations in the near future are planned to be conducted in the Pensacola Civic Center until all renovations are complete.
“We plan on having [graduation] at the Civic Center for at least the next year or so,” said Dr. James Martin, vice president of student affairs.
Having spring graduation at the Pensacola Civic Center does not conflict with any of the high school’s graduations, because it usually takes place before any of the high school graduations.
“It’s not uncommon for some students get their A.A. degree for college one night, then get their diploma for high school the next night,” Martin said.
