There is a twist on this year’s popular fundraising event, the 18th Annual WSRE Wine & Food Classic. A highlight of this year’s event will feature a Top Chef Competition among 12 of the Gulf Coast’s best chefs. They will be given basic ingredients but must add their own signature seasonings, garnishes and sauces to create a one-of-a-kind dish, which will hopefully capture the judges’ taste buds. Awards will be given for each of three courses – salad, entr‚e and dessert, including Top Honors. Diners will be served various dishes from each of the competing chefs for each of the courses.
Unfortunately, this event is sold out, but if your curiosity is still peaked, not to worry. WSRE will turn the Wine & Food Classic Top Chef Competition into a television program to be aired at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15. Viewers will get the opportunity to see all of the action firsthand.
Chefs are Brian Blaue, Marcus Pointe Country Club; Josh Cheek, Portofino; Keith Hoffert; Chris Kimberl, Big Sexy Food; Lee Lucier, eat!; Irv Miller, Jackson’s; Laura Mitchell, Soir‚e; David Penniman, Classic City Catering; Jim Shirley, Fish House; Allie Spivey, H2O; Erika Thomas, Portabello; Paul Warthen, Dharma Blue.
