Since the 70’s, Sonia Manzano has been a well known presence on several televisions. As Maria, on Sesame Street, she has served as an inspiration and teacher to several children. Manzano starred as Maria, for 44 years and received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 43rd Daytime Emmy’s in 2016. She retired from the show in 2015. She will be coming to the WSRE building to talk about how children learn and how educational shows like Sesame Street prepare them for school and life. Ms. Manzano is coming as a part of WSRE’s Public Square Speakers Series. So come out tomorrow night, Tuesday, September 13,2016. The doors open qt 6:30 p.m. and and the talk will begin at 7. The WSRE Jean & Paul Amos Performance Studio is located at Pensacola State College, off College Boulevard near the tennis courts and the pool.
