The PJC Lady Pirates opened their conference season against Chipola on January 11th, losing 90-70 at home.
Ida Edwards had 17 points and 8 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to help power the Lady Pirates past the Lady Indians.
The game was close at the half with PJC leading 37-36. The second half, though, was when it all started to fall apart. The Lady Pirates went on a long scoring drought losing the lead for good.
“We didn’t stop them in the paint. They had too many easy points in the paint,” Coach Chanda Rigby said after the game. “The long scoring drought that we went through messed up our momentum on offense as well as defense.”
The loss drops the Lady Pirates to 0-1 in the conference and 12-4 on the season.
