PJC easily won the first leg of the Lady Pirate Classic Friday night, beating Clinton (S.C.) Junior College 82-46.
The Lady Golden Bears threatened an early PJC lead midway through the first half, but a 3-pointer by Tilya Raymond put the Lady Pirates ahead for keeps. At the half, PJC led by 11.
Three Lady Pirates hit double digits in the game. Gerica Johnson was high scorer with 16 points, including four shots from beyond the 3-point line. Jessica Young, who had her own cheering section from Hillsboro, Ala. present to celebrate her birthday, scored 11 and Victoria Hunt contributed 10 points.
Saturday night the Lady Pirates play Alabama Southern, who lost in an earlier game against LSU-Eunice.
