The Modern Day Slavery Museum will be making a scheduled stop at the University of West Florida on October 27. This portable museum is housed in a replica of a truck that was used in a 2008 slavery-related incident. According to its website the purpose of the museum is to highlight the origins of, reasons for and the multiple responses that can be taken to address modern-day slavery. Likewise, the museum is said to depict the exhibits that were created in concert with the actual victims of the offense. While various types of modern-day slavery exist, this particular museum focuses on the plight of the Floridian migrant-worker and labor abuses.
The exhibit will be on display from 10am-7pm at PARGO, which is located between Pace Hall and Argo Hall. All inquiries can be directed via e-mail to the Progressive Student Alliance at pas@uwf.edu.
