The PJC Pirate basketball team took on #6 Chipola Wednesday night at the Lou Ross Center losing 83-73.
Clinton Kilber had 17 points and Tyrone Evans and Tyler Cannon added 14 points, but it wasn’t enough to get past the nationally ranked Indians.
PJC trailed at halftime 41-28, seemingly an overwhelming deficit. Second half adjustments though cut the deficit to as close as four at one point but the Pirates couldn’t get the lead.
“We wanted to spread them out to create gaps and create penetration,” Coach Paul Swanson said. “They were over aggressive on defense so we wanted to make backdoor cuts to get easy buckets.”
The loss drops PJC’s record to 11-15 on the season and 2-7 in conference. Their next game is on the road Feb. 18th against Tallahassee CC. Their home closer is on Feb. 20th against Okaloosa-Walton.
