The PJC Lady Pirates broke a 5 game losing streak Wednesday night with a 56-46 victory over Tallahassee at the Lou Ross Center.
Ida Edwards and Shontel Johnson lead the Lady Pirates with 18 points each. Edwards added 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Vanashia Allen had 5 rebounds and 5 steals to lead the defense of PJC.
Held to only 37 points the last time PJC and Tallahassee met, PJC came out fast and never looked back. They led 34-22 at halftime. The second half Tallahassee pulled to within 9 but the Lady Pirates were able to hold on and seal their first conference victory.
“We came out with great intensity tonight. They held us to the lowest point total of the season last time so we wanted to come out fast,” Coach Chanda Rigby said. “The girls wanted the win and they got it.”
The win improves the Lady Pirates’ conference record to 1-5 and their season record to 13-9. Their next game is February 4th on the road at Okaloosa Walton College
