Super Bowl XL was hyped up as all the past Super Bowls have been, and as always the game didn’t live up to the hype. The game seemed stagnant with neither team ever really gaining momentum for long periods of time. Questionable calls by the referees might have affected the outcome.
Even the commercials really weren’t all that good. Only two companies really brought it for Super Bowl quality commercials; Anheiser-Busch and Ameriquest. The best commercial of Super Bowl XL, for me at least, was the Budwesier Streaker and it isn’t one of the top 50 of all time.
Sure Jerome Bettis winning a title in his hometown in his final game is a great fuzzy-warm feeling story but that’s about it. The MVP, Hines Ward really didn’t put up MVP like numbers, but there really wasn’t anyone better to choose. Congratulations to Pittsburgh for winning Super Bowl XL, which people made out to be Extra Large. No, this was Super Bowl XXS (Extra Extra Small). Out of 40 Super Bowls (1 being the highest), I rate this one in the mid to low 30s for its greatness.
