Warrington SGA is adamant about giving back to the students. Every other week or so, the SGA sets up a table in the Student Center, on the Warrington campus, displaying free food and treats.
Phelicia Richardson, an administrative assistant, arranges and coordinates many events that happen on campus. She also participates with the SGA today for the SGA’s Sweet Heart Day.
“Every student is on a budget problem, so a free snack here and there makes them happy,” explained Richardson.
Students walk by the table at first declining any of the cookie hearts, candy, and cakes Richardson sets out. But, when the words “It’s free” are heard, students made a complete 180 degree spin around.
Many, if not all of the events coordinated by SGA, usually have free snacks and lunches ready to be served to students. Why is it free? The students have already, and unknowingly, paid for it. Student fees are the magic words, and the Warrington SGA does their best getting in touch with students by occasionally serving them a free meal.
“I like making students happy,” said Richardson, as she served cake to the eager and hungry PJC students and staff. Some students claimed their life was saved by the sugary valentine sweets available to them. Better yet, they became more excited when they heard about SGA hosting a small Mardi Gras next week; where there will be jambalaya, with red beans and rice, and as usual, it’s free.
