Shauna Cook The Corsair The Lady Pirates take the match in 3 sets against St. John’s River Oct. 13, 25-16, 25-20, and 25-15.
Sarah Guidry had 14 kills and hit a 550 for the match.
“Normally, just like a baseball hitting percentage, the higher the better,” Head Coach Chris Laird said. “For volleyball, anything over a 250 is worth mentioning, but over a 300 is obviously significant.”
Shantel Federick, The Lady Pirates Libero had 12 digs and Setter Karson Hinds had 38 assists.
“The significance of that is that’s almost 12 assists per set and the challenges when you play teams that you dominate, you don’t have the opportunities because you either don’t get the ball back or serve them off the court,” Laird said.
Adrianne Woodard had 6 kills on only 8 attempts.
“That gives you an idea of how we don’t get many opportunities sometimes,” Laird said. “She had a 750 and that’s strong.”
Emily Guidry had a 500 on 9 kills.
“She’s been good for us all year,” Laird said.
The Lady Pirates will be playing the #1 ranked team; Miami-Dade Oct. 14 in the Florida State Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla.
