Pensacola State College’s Basketball programs are asking everyone to wear pink to the games this Saturday, Feb. 23, in support of the national “Play 4 Kay” event.
Named for former North Carolina Women’s Basketball coach, Kay Yow, the 2013 Play 4Kay initiative (formerly known as WBCA Pink Zone) is an opportunity for a coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. Yow passed away from breast cancer in 2009 after battling three cases of the disease since 1987.
Since its inception in 2007, the Play 4Kay initiative has raised over $2 million to support women’s cancer research. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund is the official charity of the initiative. For more information on the event, visit http://kayyow.com.
PSC will take on Tallahassee Community College this Saturday night at the Hartsell Arena. The women play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men at 7:30 p.m.
