The Lady Pirates volleyball team swept the Pirate Challenge with a win over Andrew College Oct. 1. Pensacola State took the match with 3 wins: 24-14, 25-23, and 25-10. Their record stands at 18-5 overall and 2-0 in Conference play.
Lady Pirates gave it their all against Andrew College Saturday and came out on top.
“We’ve been practicing a lot with finishing the game and staying strong and focused and not backing off,” said Jordan Cangelosi.
In the match Head Coach Chris Laird remained confident and relaxed. He watched his team stay determined and focused to get another win against Andrew College.
“We talk about playing our style of volleyball for the most part. I remind them to stay focused and I’m confident with what they can do,” Laird said.
Lady Pirates have an upcoming match at 6 p.m. on Oct. 4 in Panama City against Gulf Coast College. A win will secure the Panhandle Conference championship.
“Our strategy for this match is to just stay involved the whole time. We need to continue to focus and make it an urgency to finish the match instead of letting them hang around,” Laird said.
The Lady Pirates are determined to finish and not drag it out any longer.
“My personal goal for this match is to win it. We want to go to state,” Cangelosi said.
