It was a hard loss for the Lady Pirates on Wednesday, Feb. 15 against Gulf Coast Community College, currently ranked #2 in the State and #9 in National Polls, losing by 5 leaving the score 99-94. This leaves the record for The Lady Pirates with an overall 21-3,  7-2 in conference and ranked #1 in State and #4 in National Polls and an overall record of 20-4 and 7-3 in conference for the Lady Commodores.

The starting line-up for the Lady Pirates was #1 Khadijah Ellison, #3 Brandy Broome, #15 Jasmine Richardson, #22 Kyana Jacobs, and #25 TeAndrea Smith. The starting line-up for the Lady Commodores were #22 Britney McCloud, #30 Keyrra Gillespie, #32 Tamara Taylor, #34 Markeisha Gatling, and #45 Uju Ugoka.

The Lady Pirates took the lead in the first half but with 37.9 on the clock the Lady Commodores tied 40-40 and took control with the lead 44-40 at half time.

In the first half #33 Darnisha Hamilton scored 12 points for the Lady Pirates and #10 Tarren White scored 12 points for the Lady Commodores.

Coming back out for the second half it was a back and forth game between the Lady Pirates and Lady Commodores. The Lady Commodores started off the second half with the lead until the Lady Pirates tied it up 52-52 with 16:03 on the clock. The Lady Pirates had control up until there was 4:39 left on the clock and that’s when the Lady Commodores turned fierce and took the game from the Lady Pirates. #25 TeAndrea Smith fouled out of the game with 9.5 seconds left on the clock.

The top double scorers for the Lady Pirates was #5 Ronika Ransford and #33 Darnisha Hamilton both with 16 points a piece, #22 Kyana Jacobs with 13 points, #25 TeAndrea Smith with 12 points, #3 Brandy Broome with 11 points, and #15 Jasmine Richardson with 10 points.

The top double scorers for the Lady Commodores were #45 Uju Ugoka with 24 points, #10 Taren White with 22 points, #34 Markeisha Gatling with 17 points, and #30 Keyrra Gillespie with 13 points.

The next game for the Lady Pirates will be Saturday, Feb. 18 at Home against Northwest Florida State who is currently ranked #5 in the State polls. Tip off will be at 5:30 p.m.
