Baker has been a staple in the R&B music industry since the early 1980’s and with 24 singles and six albums under her belt, Baker is one the most successful R&B singers from her time.

Baker has earned major success with such hits as “No More Tears”, “Caught in the Rapture”, and her most recent hit “Lately”.

While Baker released her first album Songstress in 1983 it wasn’t until she released her 1986 album Rapture that she had gained world recognition with hits such as “Sweet Love”.

With 4 American Music Awards, 8 Grammy Awards, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the songstress has expressed that she has no regrets and feels that music has been very good to not only herself but to her family.

On twitter the singer voiced her reason for retiring by saying “January 26th will mark my 59th bday and retirement  was one of my many goals/dreams.”

Using the hashtags #Retired and #BeachBum from attached to pictures on her twitter account, we can safely say that the singer is happily retired and enjoying her life after her career.
