Shauna Cook The Corsair On Thurs. Oct. 11 which was Breast Cancer Awareness Night for the Lady Pirates. Just like they fight to find a cure, they fought to take the win and conquered  in 3 sets killing the “War hawks” 25-6, 25-13, and 25-9.

“In a match like tonight, the girls have a sense to just disconnect and kind of sit back and not keep pushing forward,” Head Coach Chris Laird said. “I think a team like Jeff Davis is a better team than they showed tonight.”

The Lady Pirates were unstoppable and refused to back down.

“I feel we really stepped up because of what we’ve worked on in practice,” Adrianne Woodard said. “We’ve improved so much since we’ve been playing and it has an impact on us.”

All of the girls had a chance to play tonight and each made a contribution to the match.

“Coach puts me in to serve because it’s the best part of my game,” Erika Parks said.

With another victory under their belt, The Lady Pirates will be heading to Palatka, Fla. to play St. John’s River on Oct. 13.

“We’re excited to play some competition,” Laird said. “We’re about to play some real tough teams this week-end so the practice will be good.”
