Shauna Cook- The Corsair It was another Conference win for the Lady Pirates Saturday, Jan. 18 against Chipola College Lady Indians, winning 85-82. Lady Pirates took the first basket made by Ronika Ransford followed by a three pointer from Darnisha Hamilton “Sweet D” from way back, giving the Lady Pirates the lead. With 18:09 on the clock Chipola takes the leading spot from the Lady Pirates until they put their skills to the test and took it back with 11:18 on the clock. Driven and determined to give it their all, it was back and forth for the Lady Pirates and the Lady Indians leaving it at a tied game 38-38 at half-time. In the second half, Lady Pirates fell behind but picked up the momentum to once again take the lead and keep for the win. Already in the first half, TeAndrea Smith had 17 points, overall she gained 24 points for the Lady Pirates. Kyana Jacobs followed contributing 20 points, Ronika Ransford had 18, and Brandy Broome had 14. With another win it leaves the Lady Pirates with an overall record of 16-2 and a conference record of 2-1. Keep up the good work ladies.
