The PJC baseball team started their season off with back-to-back wins over Indian River Community College. The Pirates won 12-6 on Friday’s game and 13-9 on Saturday’s game.

Miguel Mejia started on the mound for the Pirates on Friday and Chris Sorce started on Saturday. Defenisvely, the Pirates played below what they had shown through the fall season. On the contrary, offensively the Pirates played very well.

Toddrick Stevenson hit a grand slam during Friday’s game.

Robert Beary went 4-6 with a home run, two doubles and five RBI’s.

For the two game, the Pirates scored a total of 25 runs off of 30 hits.

PJC’s game against Lake Sumter Community College, which was supposed to take place on Sunday was cancelled due to poor field conditions.

The Pirates will play their first home game of the season on Friday, Feb. 1 at 3:00 p.m. against Baton Rouge Community College.
