The Champs
1. UAB. They deserve all the recognition they can get for defeating No. 1 seeded Kentucky in the NCAA tournament. What a great game.
2. The Pensacola Ice Pilots. They’re in the playoffs and were able to pull out a win on Saturday to keep themselves alive.
3.The Detroit Tigers. They lost more than a hundred games last year, but they are off to a 4-1 start this year. Nice turn around, but it is early.
4. Carmelo Anthony. He is leading his Nuggets and might get them to the playoffs. Very impressive job by a rookie.
5. The Memphis Grizzlies. It’s impressive that they have clinched a playoff spot. They were an NBA laughing stock. This is the Grizzlies first playoff appearance in team history.
The Chumps
1. The Kentucky Wildcats. They were the overall No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament and a good contender for the National Championship. How do you lose to UAB? Looks like it’s back to the drawing board.
2. The Seattle Mariners. They are the only winless team in the MLB right now. It’s still very early though.
3. The NFL. They are talking about allowing more teams into the playoffs. Before long I guess everyone will make the playoffs.
4. MLS. It is unreal that a 14 year-old was drafted into Major League Soccer to begin with. Shouldn’t they have the same time of age constrictions as the other sports?
5. The University of Maryland. They are proposing to censor what fans can chant, wear, and yell at sports games. Ridiculous. Censorship is wrong.
