Pensacola Junior College is participating in College Goal Sunday, a national and Florida initiative to help students get the financial aid they need to attend college.

This year’s event is 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 24 at PJC’s three campuses.

Designated locations: Pensacola campus, Baroco Center for Science and Advanced Technology, Building 21; Warrington campus, Computer Lab, Building 31; Milton campus, Student Affairs, Building 4200.

On College Goal Sunday, students and families receive free expert help filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid form for 2008-2009.

The FASFA is the official document used by every college and university to determine eligibility for federal student aid. The form must be completed by students and parents each year to apply for all types of federal, state or college-sponsored financial aid – including grants, some scholarships, educational loans and work programs.

“PJC’s College Goal Sunday is meeting a need,” said Virginia Santoni, PJC coordinator of scholarships. “Last year, more than 435 students and families participated and many were from low-income and minority households.”
