Do you have some old text books lying around your house? From November 22 through December 18, the Robinson Honors Program will be sponsoring a book drive for <b><a href=”http://www.booksforafrica.org/”>Books for Africa</a></b>.
The boxes will be placed in every academic building throughout the campus and also in the bookstore.
“Our goal is to collect college text books that are no more than five years old and send them to Books for Africa,” said Heather Riley, member of the honors program.
The drive is being sponsored by <b><a href=”http://www.betterworldbooks.com/”>Better World Books</a></b>, Robinson Honors Program, and Phi Theta Kappa of the Milton and Pensacola campuses.
“This is a great opportunity for any students that want to get rid of some of their old text books that the bookstore wouldn’t take back. The books are being sent off for the excellent cause of bettering the education of the less fortunate,” Riley said.
According to its website, Books for Africa is the largest shipper of donated text books to the African content. Books for Africa has shipped over 14.5 million books to primary, secondary, post secondary and community library books to 27 countries since 1988.
“I think it’s great that our school is giving people in Africa an opportunity to better their education by donating these books,” said Morgan Cole, PJC student.
