After a 2-0 start in the conference, the PJC women’s basketball team dropped their third straight game. This time it was a 59-51 defeat at the hands of Tallahassee Community College, ranked No. 6 in the state.
The Lady Pirates (13-6, 2-3) were down by 43-18 in the second half with 16:33 left and made a valiant but failed effort at a comeback as they pulled with in six, 57-51 with 10 seconds remaining.
“If we would play the entire game like we played the last five minutes, we would reach our goal of making the state tournament,” said PJC head coach Chanda Rigby.
Victoria Hunt led PJC in scoring with 15 points followed by Dominque Sutton with 12 points.
PJC will return home to play Chipola on Saturday. Tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
