Thursday, March 22 was the second game for Pensacola State Lady Pirates and they took the win against Georgia Perimeter College 70-57. This win advanced the Lady Pirates to the final four and will have to face the #1 seed, Trinity Valley Community College, Friday, March 23 at 8p.m..

Starting for PSC were 5’9 Sophomore from Natchitoches, La. #3 Brandy Broome, 5’7 Sophomore from Washington, DC #5 Ronika Ransford, 5’9 Sophomore from Pensacola #15 Jasmine Richardson, 5’8 Sophomore from Dale City, Va. #22 Kyana Jacobs, and 6’2 Freshman from East St. Louis, Ill. #25 TeAndrea Smith.

Starting for GPC were 6′ Sophomore from Lorgues, France #2 Fanny Cavallo, 5’7 Sophomore from Bridgeport, Conn. #11 Kymiya Burwell, 5’7 Sophomore from Elberton, Ga. #12 Deanna Downer, 6’4 Sophomore from Decatur, Ga. #32 Brittany Logan, and 6′ Sophomore from Millington, Tenn. #33 Ashley Robinson.

Tipping off for PSC was #25 Smith and for GPC was #2 Cavallo. The Lady Pirates took possession of the ball and the first basket of the game was made by Smith for Pensacola State. PSC had the lead the first five minutes of the game (3-2).

It was a rough first half of the game for Pensacola State. Midway through the first half, The Lady Pirates were down by 5 (5-10). There were fouls called back to back from left to right. In the first half alone there were 25 fouls called (PSC-10 GPC-15).

By halftime, the Lady Pirates managed to get more baskets in but the Lady Jaguars remained in the lead leaving the score 28-27, PSC down by 1.

The stats in the first half for Pensacola State were Ransford with 8 points, 7 rebounds and 1 steal, Ellison with 8 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal, Richardson with 4 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist, Jacobs with 4 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals, Smith with 2 points and 5 rebounds and Hamilton with 1 point. Total FG% 7-27 (25.9%), 3pt FG% 0-7 (0.00%), FT% 13-20 (65.0%), and Deadball Rebounds-4.

The stats for Georgia Perimeter were Robinson with 6 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal, Garrett with 6 points and 4 rebounds, Burwell with 5 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 2 steals, Downer with 4 points and 1 steal, Logan with 3 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 1 steal, Tillis with 2 points, Forte with 2 points, Cavallo with 2 rebounds and 1 block, and Alexander with 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Total FG% 10-27 (37.0%) 3pt FG% 1-5 (20.0%) FT% 7-11 (63.6%), and Deadball Rebounds-2.

Fifteen seconds into the second half GPC Robinson fouled PSCs Richardson putting her at the line to tie up the game 28-28. Fifteen seconds after that PSCs Ransford steals the ball and assists Richardson to score and the Lady Pirates took the lead 31-28 leaving them ahead for the remainder of the period.

Within a minute in a half period, three players fouled out. At 11:01 GPCs Robinson fouled out, 10:39 PSCs Smith fouled out and 10:21 GPCs Cavallo Fouled out.

Within a three minute period, with 8:34 on the clock, the Lady Pirates scored back to back to back, not allowing GPC to score giving them a 16 point lead over the Lady Jaguars (63-47).

Second half stats were Total FG%: PSC- 15-37 (40.5%) GPC- 10-27 (37.0%), 3pt FG%: PSC- 4-13 (30.8%) GPC- 1-9 (11.1%), and FT%: PSC- 9-17 (52.9%) GPC- 8-10 (80.0%).

The final game stats for the Lady Pirates were Ellison with 15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals, Richardson with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block and 2 steals, Ransford with 11 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals, Hamilton with 9 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal, Jacobs with 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block and 3 steals, Broome with 7 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block and 2 steals, Smith with 4 points, 6 rebounds and 1 block, Mitchell with 3 points, Alex with 1 rebound, and Davis with 1 rebound. Total FG% 20-54 (37.0%), 3pt FG% 2-14 (14.3%), and FT% 15-21 (71.4%).
