The upcoming College Fair 2006 waits to begin the next chapter of a series of highly successful yearly events, according to Saundra Colville of Career Connections.
The event takes place over a period of two days: 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 11. at the Jean and Paul Amos Studio on the Pensacola campus and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 12 at the Life Center on the Milton campus.
The College Fair is intended to showcase regional colleges to high school juniors, seniors, and current college students to help them decide which path their academic careers will take, as well as to provide information on financial aid, admissions requirements, and degree programs offered.
This year, more than 130 colleges have been invited.
“We have mostly southeastern schools in attendance as well as some New York schools, and military academies,” Colville said.
In preparation for the Fair, 6,500 high school juniors and seniors were sent invitations, Colville said.
The response from students has always been positive, Colville said.
“Student turnout is always outstanding, usually more than we anticipate,” she said.
The knowledge gained at the college fair doesn’t only apply to the students; parents are also encouraged to come, Colville said.
