National Novel Writing Month

This month is National Novel Writing Month, so grab your laptops and flock to the nearest coffee shop!

National Novel Writing Month, coined NaNoWriMo by hardcore writing fans, is a month when aspiring writers and people who just want to write a story are challenged to complete a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. That is equal to 1,666.67 words a day.

Through the NaNoWriMo website you can connect with local writing groups who are also participating in NaNoWriMo. These groups can provide both support and encouragement during the month.

According to the official NaNoWriMo website, “50,000 [words] is a difficult but doable goal, even for people with full-time jobs and children.”

Anyone over the age of 13 can participate in NaNoWriMo, whether they have ever written a novel before or not. The website even has a Young Writers program. The NaNoWriMo community welcomes everyone who is eager to get their story written.

The Pensacola chapter of NaNoWriMo offers a lot of chances to meet up with others for “write ins” at local places throughout Pensacola and Northwest Florida.

If you’re ready to begin your NaNoWriMo novel go sign up on the website: http://nanowrimo.org/
