Saturday nights’ game was the opportunity for the Pirates to redeem themselves against the Commadores in a Conference rematch. The Pirates lost their first Conference game to the Commadores back on Jan. 11, 58-54 but on Jan. 28, Pirates did redeem themselves with a 75-68 win against the Commadores.

 Pirates had the lead with the Commadores catching up tying the game 28-28 with 6:26 on the clock. At that point Commadores took over leading 43-40 at half time. In the second half, Pirates came out to prove they had what it took to win. Darren Goodson took it to the house with a slam dunk assisted by David Alexander which gave the Pirates back the lead. Commadores came back to tie it 53-53 with 12:47 left on the clock. Out of nowhere Maurice Whitely took over scoring back to back to back leading the Pirates for the win.

 Maurice Whitely was the Featured Player of the Week and the top scorer of the game for the Pirates with 17 points in which he scored 16 of the points just in the second half. David Alexander had 12 points, Jeff Mullahey had 12 points hitting  3 three pointers back to back in the first half, Tyree Smith had 11 point, Antoine Myers had 10 points, Darren Goodson had 9 points, Devin Wilson and Don Rigters each had 2 points. Overall the Pirates are 20-3 and 4-1 in Conference. Feb. 1, Pirates will take on Northwest Florida State in Niceville, Fl.
