“Every Vote Counts” is the theme of PJC’s second annual Constitution Day program.  The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 18 in the Student Center (Bldg. 5) on the Pensacola Campus.  In light of several recent close elections, from the November 2000 U.S. presidential vote to Escambia County Commission’s currently unresolved District 2 outcome (the candidates are currently separated by two votes), the committee planning this year’s event believes that focusing on the parts of the U. S. Constitution that ensure voting rights, particularly the Twenty-Sixth Amendment, is especially timely.  Juanita Scott, PJC’s coordinator of professional development and a local political consultant, will be the keynote speaker. The elections supervisors from both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties will be in attendance, voting demonstrations with new technology will be provided, and eligible students will be able to register to vote during this year’s event.  The event is free and refreshments will be provided.
