Erica Greek is a sophomore pitcher for our lady Pirates baseball team from Thomasville, GA. She has helped lead her team to an overall record of 18-15, while being in one of the toughest conferences in the country, playing teams like Chattanooga State and Jones County, two teams that are known to give PSC problems.

Greek’ is coming off an outstanding freshman year, making first team all-conference and was three strikeouts from two-hundred before the season came to an end.

Having much success in her first year, this year she set out to reach the two-hundred strikeouts she missed the year before, while steadily enhancing her skills as a pitcher.

Having much success Greek’ knows there is always room for improvement.

“I want to get better at attacking the zone, really focusing on trying to hammer in that inside corner.” She wants to put emphasis on protecting runs during the game to make sure not to put her team in difficult situations.

Greek’ also wants to improve as a leader to help the younger players mature and get better adjusted throughout the season.

“Because my sophomore class is smaller than the freshmen class, our coach wants me to step up and lead on and off the field.”

Greek has high expectations for herself and her team. She hopes for the Lady Pirates to improve as a team, but she also looks forward to improving herself. The team hopes that they make it to Utah for a chance to play in the national championship.

Greek’ is considering attending either the University of West Florida, Valdosta State, or the University of Akron after graduating.
