The Corsair
Last week, I decided to attend a high school football game. Pine Forest is the closest school from where I live, and its football team happened to have a home game. In the previous week, the team was scheduled to play Stephenson (Ga.), but the game was postponed due to Hurricane Isaac. The Eagles’ first opponent of the season was the Arlington Country Day Apaches from Jacksonville. They would go on to lose by a score of 72 to 0. No, seriously, I’m not being absurd. The Pine Forest Eagles are that good. They’re the only program in the Pensacola area to become national champions. It produced several players who would go on to play in the NFL. The Eagles dominated the game against the Apaches from start to finish. At the end of the first quarter, they led 26 to 0, and by halftime, the score was 53 to 0. They played really good defense and had the footwork to score touchdowns with ease. They made Arlington Country Day look like a middle school football team. The Eagles’ next home game is a Homecoming game against Tate. For this fall, I’ll try to attend as many high school football games as I can.
