Isaiah Grant
The Corsair
This past week, I went to Booker T. Washington High School to take in a football game between their Wildcats and the Escambia Gators.
Neither program has been good in recent years.
Escambia drew first blood on the opening kickoff to take a 7-0 lead.
Washington responded with a touchdown, but the extra point was missed.
The Gators would eventually pull away for a 25-9 victory.
Despite the victory, the Gators didn’t bring their A-game; nor did the Wildcats.
Both teams committed a host of turnovers and penalties.
Friday, Washington heads to the eagles nest to play Pine Forest, while Escambia faces the 6A District 1 leader: Pace.
Be on the look-out for another prep football column.
