Start off to a new semester, Studio Amped

Home Editorial & Opinion Start off to a new semester, Studio Amped

Hey guys and gals, this is Kristen from SGA reporting to tell you of the upcoming events SGA is doing in our school and community.

What we are involving ourselves in this time around is a little something called Studio Amped. Studio Amped is an eight week concert series (from January 15 to March 5) featuring regional bands performing their musical creations. From country to swing, indie to the blues, each Friday they will rock out with us and give us a show worth watching. The bands will be performing in the WSRE building at the PJC main campus. The shows start at 7:00 p.m. and is completely free – I repeat – free to the public. The first week’s performance was hosted by WAVE, and although I was not able to attend, reviews were that they rocked the house. Then second week Gwen McCrae gave us an equally rocking experience.

SGA involves itself in Studio Amped by setting up for the bands and serving refreshments to the public. Anyone can volunteer to help out in the effort, just come by building six and visit Angie Jones in the Student Life Center to get more information on how to volunteer with us.

On another note, SGA is also spearheading the Haiti Relief Fund that will go and help the effort in Haiti. To get more information, come by the Student Center and see Angie Jones. She will be able to give you more information on what you can do to help Haiti.

Until next time,

Kristen Bonner
