Shauna Cook The Corsair The Lady Pirates finish the Florida State Tournament with another win against Palm Beach College Oct. 15 in a 3 set match winning 25-14, 25-20, and 25-17.

“This was the second time we got to play Palm Beach and it was the second time we beat them,” Head Coach Chris Laird said.

Jordan Cangelosi hit a 348 with 10 kills and  9 digs. Sarah Guidry had a 345 with 11 kills and 5 digs. Then Megan Gorey comes along and gets a 462 with 13 kills and 3 digs.

“Those are obviously fantastic numbers,” Laird said.

Everybody had an opportunity to play and contribute in this match.

“It wasn’t just play minutes but actual contribution and we were able to walk away with a win,” Laird said.

Overall, The Lady Pirates won the Florida State Tournament leaving their record overall 25-6 and 3-0 in conference.

“You try not to think about it but you’re appreciative of it,” Laird said. “We’re happy about having the opportunity to be successful.”

Karson Hinds and Megan Gorey made All Tournament Team which is a nomination by their opponents that they stuck out the most in the match.

“It was unanimous that Karson did a phenomenal job and Megan did really good,” Laird said. “The stats show that.”

The Lady Pirates next and last home game will be Oct. 19 against University of Mobile JV at 6 p.m. in the Hartsell Arena. It will also be “Sophomore Night” so come and show your support in honoring our 4 sophomores. Gulg Coast College cancelled this game so the Univ. of Mobile JV game was moved to the 19th and cancelled on the 24th.

Sarah Guidry had 11 kills, 5 digs, 1 block, and 1 ace

Jordan Cangelosi had 10 kills, 9 digs, and 1 block

Adrianne Woodard had 3 kills, 5 digs, 3 assists, and 2 blocks

Taylor Morehouse had 1 kill, and 2 digs

Tara Vatter had 13 assists and 4 digs

Karson Hinds had 19 assists and 13 digs

Shantel Federick had 16 digs and 1 assist
