The Essay portion of the College Level Academic Skills Test will be held on Feb. 16. Students who do not have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 in their English Comp 1 and Comp 2 classes are required to take the test.

The same GPA is required for students who have taken College Algebra and one upper level mathematics course.

Students who do not meet these standards will not be allowed to graduate unless they take the CLAST.

The Reading, English language and Mathematics skills portion of the CLAST are given weekly in the Student Services Center, Building 6.

But the Essay portion is given once during the Fall, Spring and Summer sessions.

Most PJC students do not have to take the CLAST as they have met graduation requirements.

Test Technician Debra Mowery said 22 students are taking the test on Feb. 16. This number has dropped considerably in recent years.

Those students who need the CLAST are to make themselves aware of the time, date and location of the test and schedule an appointment.

But Jan. 20 was the final day to sign up for the Essay portion of the Feb. 16 test.

The CLAST section of PJC.edu does not have current dates for CLAST sign up and testing.

It has been two years since the page has been updated.

Senior Test Technician Jane Duke said that she will email the web site administrators to correct the problem.

CLAST information is listed on <a href=”http://www.pjc.edu/ “> PJC.edu PJC.edu. It is also given to student at orientation, listed in the course catalogue and appears on signs across the Pensacola Campus.

It is important for students to apply for graduation before or at the beginning of the semester they plan to graduate.
