Pensacola Junior College’s student newspaper, The Corsair, is an Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker Award finalist.
The Corsair is among the top 55 finalists chosen from 234 college and university entries nationwide. The honor is the first for the college newspaper; editors were Matt Foster and Brandi Snodgrass, and the adviser is Christina Drain.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch staff members judged the entries. Finalists and winners will be recognized and honored Oct. 28 in St. Louis.
The Pacemaker, which was established in 1927 and is considered the ACP’s highest honor, is awarded on the basis of quality and depth of writing and reporting, as well as demonstrated excellence in design, photography and advertising.
It is the college media equivalent to the Pulitzer Prize.
