Having a disability, either physical or mental, does not mean that one can’t achieve just as much or more than one without such a disability. Students in Pensacola State College’s Arc Gateway Program for Adult Learning and Support (PALS) are proving exactly this. The PALS program is celebrating the first graduating class of students from the program.

On Monday, November 7, students in the program will be promoting not saying the R word (retardation). Students will read poetry, perform comedy skits, and speak to fellow students about the harm that comes from saying the R word and why it is important to not to use it. This event will be in the pavilion located in front of bldg. 5 and will last  from 1:30pm to  3:15pm.

PALS students have also been working on a project to raise awareness of electronic waste and recycling. Partnered with Keep Pensacola Beautiful and Emerald Coast Utilities Authority, the students have planned to provide bins on Tuesday, November 15, so that students and faculty can dispose of their electronic items. The students will be providing information on how to properly dispose of electronics to help the environment. This event will be in the pavilion located in front of bldg. 5 and will last from 8:00am to 10:00pm.
