The PJC Lady Pirate softball team swept a doubleheader against Meridian Junior College, winning by a combined score of 30-7.
PJC won the first game 13-4 behind Amanda Leggett’s 5 innings of pitching. They won the second game 17-3 behind Alicia Burnett’s 4 innings of pitching.
The only two sophomores on the roster stepped up big. Leggett and Holley Joyner went a combined 12-for-17 with 11 runs batted in as the Lady Pirates scored in 11 of 13 innings played.
The sweep improves PJC’s record to 6-2 on the season. They travel to Falukner State on Thursday to play a doubleheader next. The next home game for the Lady Pirates is on Saturday March 4th, a doubleheader against LSU Eunice at PJC Milton Campus.
