Shauna Cook- The Corsair Jan.11 was a big night for the LadyPirates as they step into their first conference of the season against Gulf Coast Community College. Lady Pirates were off to a good start taking the lead. With 6:40 left on the clock in the first half, Gulf Coast tied the game and then took the lead. Half time score was 41-39.  In the second half Lady Pirates tied the game with 5:08 left on the clock and took the lead. Gulf Coast gave it their all catching up to tie causing the game to go into overtime. In overtime Gulf Coast took the lead winning by a 1 point difference of 103-102.  A tough loss for the Lady Pirates with three of their best players fouling out. Ronika Ransford fouled out at the beginning of the second half, TeAndrea Smith fouling out with 34.4 seconds left in the second half, and Khadijah Ellison fouling out in overtime. The Lady Pirates still proved their skills on the court with four double digit scorers; Brandy Broome had 25 points, Khadijah Ellison had 22 points, TeAndrea Smith had 17 points and Darnisha Hamilton had 11 points.
